Acne Studios is a multidisciplinary luxury fashion house based situated in Stockholm in the region of Sweden. This fashion house is known for its variety of designs in both men's and women's fashion wear. It specializes in men's and women's ready-to-wear fashion, footwear, accessories as well as denim. It was founded in the year 1996. There are many trends which are known by the name of the label and this label derives its name from the creative collective ACNE. It was initially an acronym for Associated Computer Nerd Enterprises which was later changed to Ambition to Create Novel Expressions and now it's making its global expansion by contributing the best to the fashion industry. The founder and Creative Director of Acne Studios is Jonny Johansson's. Mr. Jonny Johansson had interest in photography, art, architecture as well as contemporary culture and this interest got him in the fashion industry and towards the idea of creation of Acne Studios. Johnny's sense of art has helped Acne Studios to become a respected creator of fashion clothing, publications, furniture, exhibitions as well as special collaborations.

In 1996, Acne Studios was founded in Stockholm, Sweden to be considered as a part of the creative collective ACNE which mainly focused on graphic design, film, production and advertising. Later In the year 1997, cofounder Jonny Johansson created 100 pairs of raw denim jeans with red stitching and distributed them away to friends and family. This was the very first step of Acne Studios in fashion clothing. Wallpaper* and Vogue Paris quickly picked up on the popularity of the jeans made by Acne Studios and it instantly got popularity which rapidly expanded their fashion offering outside of denim.

In the year 2006, Acne Studios became a standalone company. It got separated from other entities within the collective ACNE including Acne Film, Acne Advertising as well as Acne Digital. When the separation was happening, the company was launching their e-commerce operation. Since launching of this operation, Acne Studios has grown into a global fashion house with retail stores all around the world including the big fashion cities like Paris, London, New York, Los Angeles, Antwerp and Tokyo which made Acne Studios global and loved by the people all across the world. This expansion offers women's and men's ready-to-wear collections by Acne Studios to be presented at Paris Fashion Week twice a year and turning over $215 million annually in 2016.

Acne Studios avoids being traditional when it comes to various forms of marketing and advertising, it chooses to publish a biannual magazine called Acne Paper instead. Acne Paper magazines the core of the Acne Studios which includes the disciplines of art, brands, fashion, digital photography, design, architecture, structures, academia, and the culture. Each issue is based around a particular theme which is interpreted by selected contributors who are experts in the respective field. Contributors to Acne Paper have included the big names Carine Roitfeld, Noam Chomsky, David Lynch, Lord Snowdon, Azzedine Alaïa, Mario Testino, Sarah Moon, Tilda Swinton and Paolo Roversi as well.
