Domus academy known for its high end professional courses in fashion, industrial designs and design management is a private school located in Milan, Italy . The massive academy was established in the year 1982 .

The Domus Academy was founded by  the Mazzocchi family, owners of the Editoriale Domus which is known for publishing Domus and Quattroroute magazines . Initially Maria Grazia Mazzocchi was the president of the school  then Gianfranco Ferre was on the staff from 1983 to 1989 and Andrea Branzi was the cultural director for the first decade.

Later in the year 2009 the school was bought by Laureate Education of Baltimore, Maryland for an estimated 10 million euros . In 2018 Laureate sold it to the British Galileo Global Education group.

Domus academy is known as a working laboratory. An incubator of many talents and springboard for interdisciplinary adventures it's a place where stellar careers are launched. As known, in the early 80's Milan went on to becoming the epicentre of Italian fashion. Yet no one in the city actually went ahead and thought of teaching fashion in a formalized way. Hence Domus academy was founded in the year 1982 , Italy's first ever postgraduate design school.
