The Fashion Institute of Technology widely known as FIT between youngsters is a public college in Manhattan in New York City. It is an important part of the State University of New York (SUNY). This institute has made its name by focusing on art, business, design, mass communication, and technology. This institute connects the art and business to the fashion industry and creates new opportunities for the students studying here. It supports new talents and creative ideas so that new trend setters can get their work done through a powerful platform. It was founded in 1944. In addition to the degree programs, FIT also offers a wide selection of non-credit courses through the Center for Professional Studies. One of the most popular programs of FIT is the "Sew Like a Pro" series, which includes teaching of basic through advanced sewing skills. Campus of FIT includes the nine-building. This building has rich classrooms, television and radio studios, labs, design workshops, and multiple exhibition galleries which are enough to take digital education for every student. Fully facilitated campus arrangements make the educational experience much better, not only for the students but also for the teacher and staff also. For studying the better literature, the campus has a Barnes & Noble College Bookstore. The Conference Center at FIT features the John E. Reeves Great Hall. This space is suitable for conferences, fashion shows, lectures, and other events as well. The campus also has the facility of two large theatres named the Haft Auditorium and the Katie Murphy Amphitheatre. FIT serves over 7,578 full-time and 2,186 part-time students which is a high amount. It has 4 dormitories, three of which are on-campus which serves approximately 2,300 students and offer a variety of accommodations. The George S. and Mariana Kaufman Residence Hall is the specialty of FIT, it is located at 406 West 31st Street. The campus also includes a retail food court/dining hall, a deli and a Starbucks for delicious drinks.
FIT also has the Design and Research Lighting Laboratory which is a development facility for interior design and other academic disciplines. This features 400 commercially available lighting fixtures fully controlled by a computer. The Annette Green/Fragrance Foundation Laboratory in FIT provides an environment for the study of fragrance development. All the labs and facilities make FIT what it is right now. By providing the best to each and every student here, it is by far the best Fashion Institute.
