Zara SA widely known and stylized as ZARA is a Spanish apparel retailer based in Arteixo in Galicia (Spain). The company is popular all around the world and specializes in fast fashion, and products include clothing, accessories, shoes, swimwear, beauty, as well as perfumes. It is the largest company in the Inditex group. Also, it's the world's largest apparel retailer. The popularity has made Zara so big that from 2017, Zara manages up to 20 clothing collections a year and these are appreciated all around the world. People actually wait for the latest collection from the brand name. It is a recognized and appreciated brand from most of the renowned fashion designers and fashion houses. 

Coming to its history, Amancio Ortega opened the first Zara store in 1975 in central A Coruña, Galicia, Spain. It was initially named the store as Zorba and it was based upon the very classic film Zorba the Greek, but after learning there was a bar with the same name just two blocks away, they rearranged the letters and turned it into the sign "Zara". It is believed by directors that the extra "a" in the name came from an additional set of letters that had been made for the company. The first store from the company featured low-priced look alike clothes and appeals of popular, higher-end clothing fashions. Later, Ortega opened many additional stores throughout Spain. In the period of the 1980s, Ortega changed the design, manufacturing, as well as the distribution process to reduce lead times and react to new, latest trends in a market in a quicker way, which he then called as "instant fashions". The improvements were minute as well as big but it was loved by people. It included the use of information technologies and using groups of designers instead of individuals. In the year 1985, Amancio Ortega set up a parent company for Zara as there was planning going on for global expansion, and in 1988, the company initiated its international expansion through Porto, Portugal. In the year 2014, Zara introduced the use of RFID technology into its stores which gives a totally different perspective to people to look towards Zara. The RFID chips are located in the security tags of the clothes which are removed from clothing at the time of its purchase and then it can be reused. The chip allows the company to quickly take an inventory as it helps in detecting radio signals from the RFID tags; this makes the work easy going. 

For such a great contribution to the fashion industry, Zara got many appreciation rewards and awards. In the year 2015, Zara was ranked 30 on Interbrand's list of best global brands. Later In 2019, Zara had updated the logo. In the same year, Zara introduced the Global Fashion Business Journal that while the textile commerce of the world had gone down by 2.38%, Zara had risen 2.17%. Zara stores have men's as well as women's clothing. They have also introduced children's clothing known as Zara Kids. Zara's products are trendy and are supplied based on consumer trends and needs. The brand has never compromised with the quality of the product and that's why they have trust of their customers and this is the key reason behind Zara's success.
