Stella McCartney
Stella McCartney is one of the foremost well-known and outspoken fashion designers within the globe. She launched her career in 1995 when friends and supermodels Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss modelled her clothes at her college graduation. VH1/Vogue Designer of the Year Award in 2000 was received by her. In 2012, McCartney designed the clothing for nice Britain's Olympic team.
In 1995, McCartney burst into the design world when she invited friends and supermodels Campbell and Moss to model a gaggle of her clothes at her graduation from London's Central St. Martin's College of Art & Design. Two years later she was tapped to be head designer at the design house Chloe. While critics said McCartney's name artificially accelerated her rise, McCartney quietly and quickly proved herself warrant the appointment. Her creations catered successfully to the requirements and desires of young women and her tenure at the company is usually considered an infinite success.
Stella McCartney was the daughter of Sir Paul McCartney (a former Beatle) and Linda McCartney, a noted photographer and animal-rights activist. She worked for a time at the French couture house Christian Lacroix and as an intern at British Vogue before enrolling in Central Saint Martin's College of Art and style, London. For her graduation in 1995, she produced a blockbuster show that featured supermodel Naomi Campbell. McCartney subsequently rose quickly to the forefront of the international fashion world, and in 1997 she was hired by the Vendome Luxury Group to revitalize its 45-year-old design label, Chloé.
McCartney succeeded in re-establishing Chloé as a desirable brand; its sales increased markedly. Her first collection which includes lacy petticoat skirts and dainty camisoles, silenced critics, and her 2001 Paris romantic offerings-silk pants go off by midriff-baring tops, body-hugging jeans paired with tunic tops or jackets, and faux-fur coats and jewelled vests-cemented her professional reputation. McCartney also dropped at the brand a star cult following. This partially was because of her high-profile customers and friends, notably Madonna (for whom she designed a marriage dress), actresses Kate Hudson (whom she outfitted for the 2001 accolade ceremonies), Liv Tyler, and Gwyneth Paltrow, and model Kate Moss.
A venture with Gucci Group was landed by McCartney in 2001 which agreed to let the young designer have her own label. She has since gone on to launch type of various products, from lingerie and eye care, to organic skincare and perfume. Like her mother, Stella could also be a staunch vegetarian, and her clothes reflect that. Absent is that the employment of any leather or fur in her collections.
Her hardened stance has even provoked her to criticize others who do use animal products in their work as "heartless." In addition to Gucci, McCartney has teamed up with other companies, including H&M and Adidas. Working with Adidas, McCartney brought in to be creative director for nice Britain's 2012 Olympic team. It was then that she has sought out other interesting projects. The sustainable evening wear line called the Stella McCartney was launched by McCartney.
