Thom Sweeney
Thom Sweeney is a modern British tailor with stores in London and New York. They are known in making tailored and casual clothes that combine understated, masculine design with superior craftsmanship.
The house was founded by Savile Row trained tailors Thom Whiddett and Luke Sweeney. The pair met in 2003 at Timothy Everest, one of the most influential tailors of the day, when Thom was Head Cutter and Luke managed the house's made-to-measure service. Soon after they started working together, they decided to join forces.
In 2007, Thom and Luke set up ‘shop' in part of a Mayfair townhouse, where they took private orders. The first Thom Sweeney store opened in 2009, on the site of a former gallery on nearby Weighhouse Street. Today, this space is home to Thom Sweeney's team of bespoke tailors and apprentices, and offers clients a refined space in which to relax, socialise and order clothes.
Thom and Luke launched their first ready-to-wear collection on Mr Porter in 2013, and continue to design capsule collections for Mr Porter as well as Matches & My Theresa today. A second Thom Sweeney store, focused on ready-to-wear and made-to-measure tailoring opened on Bruton Place in 2014. The brand's New York outpost followed suit in late 2017.
Today, Thom Sweeney makes clothes with a contemporary approach, understated design and the craftsmanship expected of luxury British menswear.
The team completely understands how men dress today, and they take pride in dressing the customers from Monday through to Sunday, and from the boardroom to relaxed weekends at home.
Thom Sweeney is now a leading British luxury brand with an international reputation and clientele.
Initially, Thom and Luke set up ‘shop' in a room in London's Mayfair, where they took private orders. The first Thom Sweeney store opened in 2009, on the site of a former gallery on near by Weighhouse Street.
Today, Thom Sweeney's London home is a four-storey townhouse on Old Burlington Street, a luxurious space that combines a ready-to-wear store with workrooms for our team of bespoke tailors, and offers clients a home from home in which to relax, socialise and order clothes, complete with a clubroom and barbershop.
