Description:

A gem, a hidden treasure, an escape to nature.  A place where you can stay for a little or stay for a lifetime.  All you have to do is imagine… then wake up and relax, because this dream villa has it all.  Built to fulfill all the needs and desires of a high-end vacation home, in a very private setting, away from the public eye and from the noisy roads.  Location is the added value. Only five minutes away from downtown Uvita and all of its gourmet restaurants, banks, stores and supermarkets and some of the most magical beaches of Costa Rica.  Villa de Ensueño is a refugee from an otherwise high-speed life.

Your day can start with a super fresh organic orange juice, a Costa Rica style breakfast with “gallo pinto”, and then a walk with the dogs around the organic gardens to collect some veggies for lunch.  Then another walk all the way down until you reach the whale tail at low tide.  From there you can view the house on the hill, surrounded by the magical evergreen forest of the Dominical mountain range.

Take a deep breath, feel the breeze, hear the waves crashing against the rocks, walk the soft sands of the beaches of the National Park Marino Ballena, and then go back home, to continue the adventure of another day in paradise, and find out it wasn’t a dream, and after all, you are home! Built as a home to create experiences and memories, an expression of the owners love for nature, without interrupting what was already there.

The house sits on a hill above the canopy, overlooking the beautiful the evergreen mountain range, and the Pacific Ocean with its spectacular sunsets, the National Park Marino Ballena and its famous whale tail as part of the magnificent views.   For a private, independent and adventurous lifestyle, the home comes full of spaces for collecting exciting life experiences.

A five-minute drive from the Costanera highway, on a well-maintained gravel road, takes you to a private first class concrete road with underground electricity, and natural tropical gardens on the side, leading you to the main gate with full security features and intercom, which can be opened from your cellular.

Near the main gate, there is a 140 m2 caretaker´s house with two bedrooms, living room, kitchen, bathroom, laundry room, storage room and garage. A nice concrete bridge separates the main entrance from the rest of the property, giving an added sense of privacy and security.  The main house is located on the hill and the construction was adapted to the shape of the terrain.

Generous parking facilities and a garage for three cars welcome you to the main house with 1,100 m2 of under-roof construction area. The house opens to the terraces, decks, and balconies, in the best expression of indoor/outdoor living.
The house is anything but ordinary. Its first-class quality of construction is an anchor attached to the hill. Every space was designed for maximum use of the space, the views and the connection with nature.

The beautiful outdoor areas are complemented by a salt water infinity swimming pool overlooking Shaman Beach and the top of the trees.  Monkeys, toucans, butterflies and all kinds of birds come as frequent visitors, as the house was built without interrupting their natural habitat.

The gigantic deck area is made of Manu wood, one of the hardest woods on earth.  An outside Jacuzzi area is suspended on a Mirador ranch including its own hot water system, a balcony underneath and a small gym with air conditioning system.
The deck holds the infinity salt water swimming pool area surrounded by a terrace, the outside shower, and a large open-air social area ideal for large entertainment, including a full outdoor kitchen with cabinets, refrigerator and a grill with the hood extractor. The social areas with floor to roof windows and triple height ceilings are designed in open floor concept, to maximize the connection of family gatherings and everyday routine around the kitchen, living room, and dining room and pool areas.

The imported Italian designer`s kitchen cabinetry comes with Corian countertops, double oven, dishwasher, professional stove, top of the line refrigerator, and a huge pantry. The large master bedroom comes with electric curtains and blackouts. The floor to roof window doors connects directly to a private terrace ideal for quietness and relaxation, with direct views to the whale tail, the Marino Ballena National Park, and the sunsets.  It offers a modern bathroom with double shower, a modern designer`s bathtub, double vanity, Hans Groeier water features, and a large walk-in closet with humidity control.

Two additional guest bedrooms, each one with a bathroom, are part of the main level of the house and a laundry room with access to both master bedroom and kitchen.   Downstairs you will find the tempered wine cellar for 3,000 bottles, and the art studio and the office, which can be turned into two additional bedrooms, a small kitchen, 1/2 a bathroom and 3 storage rooms are also part of this area.

The house has several rooms for servicing the maintenance equipment: 1 room for emergency electric generator and gas hot water heater. 1 room for gas cylinders 1 room for pool equipment and water treatment 1 room for water pressure regulating pump and  1 air conditioning units service room. Also under the deck, there is ample storage for kayaks, beach umbrellas, chairs and others. The owners wanted to enjoy the property without having to worry about the unexpected.

They thought about everything when considering the different situations they could encounter in living away from the city and having to count on plan A, B, and C in case of unexpected situations.  This is a home for nature lovers and those wanting the best out of an experiential luxury lifestyle.

About the Marino Ballena National Park “Marino Ballena National Park is named after the Humpback Whales that migrate here each year from December to April to mate before returning to the frigid waters to the north. Humpbacks congregate off the Pacific coast to mate from December to April. You’re likely to see them but not likely to see one clear out of the water like this.  It was established in 1990.

Marino Ballena National Park protects a total of 5,510 hectares or 13,616 acres.  110 hectares or 272 acres is on land, the rest is in the ocean.  The elevation of the park ranges from sea level to 5 meters or 16 feet.  Within the park, there are several habitats including coral reef, rainforest, and beach habitats.

There are flat hiking trails along the beach area.  In addition, boat tours will take visitors to see dolphins and whales or snorkel during the dry season. Dolphins can be observed year round at Marino Ballena.  Humpback whales visit the park from both the northern and southern hemisphere.

The best seasons to see these amazing creatures are December through March and then August through October. There are plenty of animals within Marino Ballena Park.  Some of the land animals include howler, capuchin, and squirrel monkeys.

There are sloths, raccoons, pizotes and even the occasional puma or ocelot will roam through.  Some of the more common bird species include roadside hawks, white hawks, chestnut-mandibled toucan, keel-billed toucan, sea gulls, sand pipers, and pelicans.  The main draw to the area is the marine mammals including humpback, false orca, and pilot whales.  Dolphin species that frequent the area include spotted, spinner, common, and bottle nosed dolphins.  In addition, olive ridley turtles and the occasional pacific green or hawksbill turtle can be found in the waters of the park. Playas Uvita and Ballena are relatively unvisited stretches of white and golden sand. Green marine iguanas (iguana verde) bask in the sun between dives to feed on the algae growing on the rocks and coral. Between the beaches are areas of mangrove habitat.

The largest coral reef on the Pacific Coast of Central America forms a crescent necklace with the three small islands known as Las Tres Hermanas (three sisters) and Ballena island as the center piece. The park stretches from the southern end of Playa Hermosa to the northern end of Playa Piñuela and about 9 miles (15 km) seaward.”
